The Guest Speaker was Mr. Norman Emerson, Director of Curriculum & Assessment with the NCCA who outlined the key aspects of the recently published consultation document on Assessment & Reporting within the New Junior Cycle. This was followed by a discussion on aspects of the document.

Catherine in Head Office is retiring and a new administrator will be appointed shortly.Communications Digital Strategy – the Leader magazine will be published 4 times annually instead of 6 times. A 2 page digital newsletter will be published monthly. The website will be revamped with a new log in system.
The DEIS review will be held on 23rd May in Dublin.The closing date for RACE applications has been extended for next year. The DES wants information/data on the new JC to be entered through PPOD which could prove problematic for schools.

NAPD sent a letter of welcome to the
newly appointed Minister of the DES, Richard Bruton, TD, inviting him to attend
Conference in November.

Members need an ICT forum to enable monitored exchange of views and provide feedback.CPD for Principals and Deputies is essential and attendance at regional meetings and conference should be recognized as such.
Two new guidelines will be available on the website before the summer: Student Teacher Placement Policy and a Homework Policy. A POR review document is also available.

This sub-committee on Middle Management has been set up. Detta Cahill is on the committee and if anyone has any suggestions for the committee please pass them on to her. AOB

Cathnia Ó MuircheartaighAn email reminder about the June Seminar in Kelly’s will be sent early next week. The
hotel is looking for final numbers so people need to book asap.It
was decided to keep the dual location rota for regional meetings, alternating
between Waterford and Kilkenny, for 2016-17. The earlier start time of 3pm was
also agreed for another year. It was also suggested that the dates for all the
2016-17 meetings be posted on the website to avoid clashes with PT meetings etc.
