A lovely evening in St. Kieran's, Kilkenny for retired R5 Principal's and Deputy Principal's

Friday evening saw the annual gathering of Regional 5 members to honour our recent Retirees. The gathering took place in The Parlour of St. Kieran's College in Kilkenny hosted by Principal Adrian Finan. A very special thank you to Fr. Dermot Ryan who gifted the refreshments to NAPD.
The nominators all spoke glowingly about the Retirees and all wished each any one a very healthy & happy retirement. A common theme throughout all the speeches was the importance of supporting each other and how NAPD provided an important conduit for that to happen.

The Retirees honoured included;

  • Mary Finnigan Burke (P) of Coláiste Dún Iascaigh nominated by Darius Delahunty
  • Eddie Morrissey (P) of Cashel CS nominated by Margaret Moore
  • Frank O' Callaghan (P) of De La Salle, Waterford nominated by Declan O' Brien
  • Mary Ryan (P) of Presentation, Waterford nominated by Ruth Gallen
  • Gerard O' Brien (P) of Coláiste Phobail, Roscrea nominated by Joan Brophy
  • Breda Cogley (P) of Presentation, Wexford nominated by Anne O' Brien
  • Anne O' Brien (DP) of Presentation, Wexford nominated by Breda Cogley
After the speeches by both the Retirees and Nominators, NAPD heard from Guest Speaker Brian Tyrrell. Brian, SEO of Kilkenny County Council, spoke about the 1916 commemoration events that are taking place in Kilkenny in the coming year. A few tips and pieces of advice on what we can do in our schools were taken on board!

The evening then moved to Rinuccini's Restaurant, Kilkenny for a lovely meal. A big thank you to R5 Secretary, Siobhan Landers for her hard work in contacting the Retirees and Nominators.

Our next meeting will be held in Langton's Kilkenny on March 10th at 3pm. Full details to follow.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Rachel O' Connor, Chairperson.
